Biomedical Waste Management among Primary Health Care Workers, Bauchi Local Government Area, Bauchi State, NIGERIA

Biomedical waste management is a serious issue to health and environment that must be addressed at primary care level, especially in Bauchi local government area of state. The objectives this study were assess on the knowledge, methods problems biomedical among workers some selected Health Care Centers L.G.A. A cross sectional was employed sampling techniques used distribute questionnaire interview twenty (20) centers with (200) sample respondents from public private centers. result current shows knowledge awareness represented (94%), only (6%) not aware. majority PHC practiced open dumping burning method (74%), incineration (7%), chemical treatment 1% for autoclave methods. while, microwaving (0%), encapsulation (0%) sanitary landfill practiced. included improper planning (33%), insufficient funds (25%), lack material (19%) (15%) staffs training. There segregation, planning, burning, which against Waste (Management Handling) Rules 2016. level Thus, should give more consideration towards good plan, allocation resources, set committee adequate supervision, monitoring evaluation sustainable state.
